Just collected my "new" GTI...
« on: 16 December 2010, 00:31 »
...WELL! I picked my new Jazz Blue Pearl MK4 2.0 GTI up today, and oh my god! It's the first time I have ever had the pleasure of driving a VW (I never even test-drove the car before I bought it)...And although I said I would always stick with Jap cars, I don't think I'm going to be parting ways with VW anytime soon, if ever. I am absolutely in love!

As I'm on a budget (paid a fair bit for the car itself!) I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of little non-engine related modifications I can do to the car, just to make it more my own, if you catch my drift? I've been out of the car scene so long it's hard to remember even where to start!

If anyone has any ideas, it'd be muchly appreciated - thank you :)

I wouldn't have got insured on the 1.8T within my budget - plus this was far too good a deal to pass up as it's only got 20k on the clock and I do ALOT of miles!

Sounds good mate! My first tip is to ignore the numerous comments that crop up every single time on this forum telling you to swap engines and then secondly - a suspension drop is a good start as it looks good and makes the car handle better.

i hope you have ABIG wallet too then, GTI's especially the 2.0 drink fuel and engine oil like theres no tomorow.

+1

give it a bit of a drop and it will start to look even nicer, and most likely handle better because with standard suspension its a bit of a ship in the corner.

glad your happy with the car though and welcome to the forum

Id say the usual ie nice set of wheels of course  then id say lower it and maybe some wheel spacers so you'll have it sitting low and wide  Quality cat back system or even just the back box :undecided: then you have the personal touches ie tinted windows, ICE upgrade, badgeless grille, de-badge etc etc. Depending on what your wanting to spend you have the bumper upgrades ie R32 or anni etc. There's loads you can do that doesn't involve the engine just have fun with it

OK its the 2.0 and not the 1.8 T (which is what I have ) but its still a GTi and depending on what your wanting/willing to spend you can get it looking nice just wont have the power to back it up but hey 1.8's are costly to insure so I congratulate you on at least going for a VW

Corrected for you.  WOW 115 bhp.

Like all before, should have got the 150 bhp 1.8.
