Thanks for the replies guys

As you've had the timing stuff worked with I'd say it's connected with it, so my guess would be they've timed it up wrong.
+1
I'd agree with this, Mr Clutch put mine back together one tooth out and it didn't run right, plus went into limp mode due to overboost now and again.
Thinking about it, it could be timing related because my car was running ok before the work got done to it.

Would the timing being out throw up a fault code

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies. I've managed sort the car out turns out I took it back to the garage where the work was done. The guy looked at the car and said possible coil pack so I changed and it was a coil pack that was causing the problem.  the jerking has stopped (touch wood). I just need to replace the other 3 over the next few weeks, I probably will change the spark plugs while I'm at it.

The golf still ain't starting first time tho it turns over but won't fire I think my keys need to be recoded or sumthing

It's slowly getting sorted

itll not be the keys, the immo will let it start then cut out, could be loads of possible things, but do the plugs and coilpacks like you said, they could be the cause
