Hi guys

A few months ago my car started to make a knocking noise   which turned out to be the timing chain tensioner saying bye bye. I got the timing chain tensioner changed along with a new chain and cambelt + water pump.

This has stopped the knocking noise woo  but I've had the car back a month now and it's not running rite it keeps on jerking while acceleration and won't start first time. I did abit of reading and fort the MAF was the problem but I've jus changed it and it's not any better



Need help please
Also when I first got the car I had a health check done by Vw and it claque that my diverter valve was on it's way out. Could that cause the jerking?

is the timing spot on? could it be a tooth out??

Where are you? ideally someone nearby could scan it and give you and answer. Otherwise its guess work really.

I live in Crawley. Scaning it would make it easer lol giv a clearer idea of what is wrong

what engine is it fella,

I had this problem with my 1.8 20v n/a engine, after scanning the car with vag found out it was the throttle body. If you cant get to scan your car. test the resistance with a multimeter on the throttle body should get a good indication then..

Oh yh forgot to put that up it's a 1.8t aum gona try to get it scanned. I drove it to a from work today and it felt alot better only jerked a once or twice as apposed to all the time. Also only seems to jerk when it's warm

As you've had the timing stuff worked with I'd say it's connected with it, so my guess would be they've timed it up wrong.

I'd agree with this, Mr Clutch put mine back together one tooth out and it didn't run right, plus went into limp mode due to overboost now and again.

Sounds like a crank position sensor to me.

Maybe starting first time could be a seperate problem? if so maybe the pcv system?
