What mrk 5????

hello guys, I have a mrk4 GTI and love it i have had it a few years now but want an upgrade and love the mrk 5 but dont no whether to get a GTI or an R32 as there is is not as much of a price difference as i first thought, i personally prefere the R32 but i dont no what there like when remapped. So which one do you people suggest???? thanks

Have you driven either of them?

That would be my advice.  Try and drive them back to back on the same day and pick which one you prefer.  Don't rule out an ED30 either mind  :wink:

i dont think i will be able to afford an edition 30 i should have about £11,500 to spend but really dont no what to get i have been searching on here and it says the R32 cant be mapped is this true? I have not driven either yet as i havent got all the money yet im still saving but just wanted to get a bit of a rough idea first from you guys.

You can remap the .:R's but you won't see much gain for your money as they are normally aspirated

Go test drive a few and make your mind up - don't worry about not having the money just yet!!

Also price up the insurance side of things and also the long term running costs.  The R32 does like a drop of the go-go juice so if you're doing a far amount of miles that's going to have a big impact on your wallet especially with the way ever increasing petrol prices.  There's also the tax to consider too.

But go and drive a few examples first :afro:

yeh i will after christmas i think, the main reason i want the R is the noise they make i love it i dont really do loads of miles so shouldnt be to bad i only work 10 miles from my house so will only be doing 20 miles a day most days is the tax £400 a year?

Depending on when it was registered I believe so the later the model, the higher the tax bracket  :sad:

260ish at a guess  :undecided:  You won't see great peak gains but the midrange should be stronger.

About that.

Depends on the conditions and the driver.  Also consider the R32 is heavier to start with so power-to-weight ratio might be about the same
