Hi Harvey, i have had my ed30 since new (march 2007) and i still look forward to taking it for a drive. I only use the car at weekends, but always look for any excuse. No regrets in my purchase, and tbh, i am struggling to think of any other car i would change up to. A Rocco R is tempting though. Great acceleration, especially top end leptons. If driven normally, mpg is mid 30's. Feels really stable at any speed and handles fine for me. It is a bit more exclusive than a gti, but it looks a bit better imo, as the skirts & bumpers are get colour coded. I find it is a bit more stealthy as well, as it can look like other golfs with coded bits.
To date, the only issue i have had was a faulty air con compressor, which was replaced under warranty. Sticking door lock was solved with some oil spray.
great car, go for it.

GTI 30 Edition, Reflex Silver, MFSW, Xenons, cruise, iPod & armrest.....and a tank full of 99 octane

Buy one, thats going to be my next car.  Can't see how you can go wrong the standard GTI is a great car so the Edition 30 is only going to be better and the power potential it has is awesome.

You could say most perfomance cars are ragged , but the TFSI engine is bullit proof :smug:

( but the TFSI engine is bullit proof )!!!
Rubbish
i think your very mislead by your statement
(no more reliable, actually worse than some other makes of the run of the mill perfomance hatch engines)
for example:
camshaft and cam follower issues
water pump impellers falling off
inlet valve problems
tumble valve issues
dv valve problems
Failed belt idler pulleys
i could go on,  but it appears you have been suckered by the  typical VW advertising i am afaid  :lipsrsealed:

Dino, sounds like you have a thing against a Mark 5. Or your a vw Mechanic.

Dont let this put you off the Ed30. Its a superb car and quite well sort after .

Egbutt's just jelous he didnt buy an Ed30 when they were out new when he bought his Std run of the Mill GTi  :lipsrsealed:

Dsg would be my 1st choice though over transmission type.

Ive owned 3 mk5 GTi's, 2 std and the ed30 i have now, i wanted to sell my MK5 std GTI twice!!, and now got what i always deep down wanted, and have absolutely no plans to sell her. Best car ive owned in a country mile.
