Rear Camber, toe... Is it adjustable?

Hi There

Apart from playing with the rear axle hangers (they have some possible adjustment when loose) is there any adjustment on the rear of a MK2 Golf GTI?

The only way its adjustable is via sub axle camber shims. The angle at which you fit them will dictate camber/toe.

Bear in mind that the rear beam is on a radius, so if your car is lowered, then you have to set the shims about 3 degrees out from the recommended settings to prevent toe-in.

Very interesting thanks. It is lowered by 40mm or so. It had a PI lowering kit with standard rate springs and gas dampers. Good suspension actually.

I have a trackrite so will check the rear toe. I have just bought a camber gauge so once the kids give it to me for christmas I will use that. It does look like it has a spot too much -ve at the back. I can live with that tho. The toe I want right. You do not know what the spec is do you? I can probably search for it although I have not stubled across the figures yet.......

Here's the reports from my 4 wheel alignments, should give a reasonable impression of the factory figures. The rears have quite a lot of rear camber anyway, makes it a bit tram-line-y but doesn't effect the overall drive or tyre wear.
