It could depend on whether the dealer set it to long-life or time and distance when they PDI'd it.
Presumabley they come from the factory with long-life oil in. You dealer should be able to check which one it has been set for and adjust it accordingly.
My Passat was set for long-life. The first service was called for at 22,000 miles, I had a long-life service, but the 2000 mile countdown began only 8000 miles later. The dealer checked and although they had done the correct service, they had reset the counter wrongly. After changing it, it asked for it's second service at 41,000 miles.
