There was logic with 'blind faith' in your selection. You could not go wrong and you did not. Great car, nearly as good looking as a GTi.

I had to order mine on blind faith alone  :embarassed: there were no demo cars, no internet reviews and if I wanted one this year I had to order in December!! Lucky it was worth it really..

Me too!!  I put my deposit down in May 2009 before the car had officially been announced - although it was fully refundable if I didn't like pricing etc.  My order was placed in October the day the official ordering commenced and I ordered going by pictures I'd seen on the internet!  I had test driven a MK6 GTI, GTD, TTS and S3 though... and owned a MK5 ED30 - so I had a rough idea what I was letting myself in for.
I'd never seen my colour / wheel combo anywhere though... not even in pictures - so that really was blind faith!

I got a test drive of an R in February - so if I'd hated it I could have walked away only losing my £1000 deposit.  Thankfully I loved it, and I loved my colour choice when I finally saw it in April

My only slight regret is that I never saw the steel grey before I ordered my RB one, as my last one was a discreet black GTI, RB is a little conspicuous and "look at me". I have a bit of a love hate with the colour. Most of the the I love it!!!!!

My ED30 was Steel Grey.  I really liked it, but didn't want to have the same colour twice in a row!

And me - this is the only car I've ever ordered without driving one first. But as it's basically a cross between an R32 and a GTI, it was a fairly safe bet that it would be a good car. Like you p3eps I'd driven the GTI, S3 and R32 so had a reasonable idea what it'd be like.

Me three!! No surprises... the car has been awesome... just ticked over 10,000 miles. It's been worth the £5K for the 4WD alone over the last week...

Yeah we planned it on the other forum!   

Our plans were somewhat foiled by your random screenwash jibber jabber, but i called in the troops. The battle cry of the R was heard (slightly muted now since we lost the V6!), and with the screeching of all four wheels spinning, they came to the rescue!

Think i'll beat a hasty retreat now
