mk4 standard cd/radio fitment

hi i recently purchased a single standard cd player to go in my mk4 along with the radio cassette player. i roughly remember there should be something between these like a cage or something??? or do they just sit on top of eachother? thanks.

Mine has a plastic divider between the 2 units. It is a 6 disc in dash CD player tho, if it makes any difference.
