Windows went down overnight.
« on: 27 November 2010, 09:59 »
I'm in Aberdeen - where we've had quite a lot of snow over the last few days.

Yesterday morning I walked out to the car to notice that both my front windows (3 door car) were down 2-3".  There was a fair bit of snow inside the car - which took quite a lot of effort to clean up.  I was a bit concerned by it being all over my electric window / mirror switches - but I managed to scoop most of it out, and then used paper towels to soak up the left overs.  I guess these must be pretty waterproof anyway as they get soaked when you open the door in the rain.

Now I'm well aware that holding my unlock button on my key makes the window go down - but I'm pretty sure I haven't done this... plus I live far enough away from where my car stays that I'm sure my fob wouldn't work in the house.

I checked the windows last night at about 10pm and they were still up - I just hope they're still up this morning as we had a fair bit of snow last night again!

Any ideas whats happened?  I guess I should get out with my VagCom and check for problems?

I know some of the mk5's suffered this glitch every so often. I think i have also read about it somewere on a mk6 forum too. So im guessing its a known fault to the dealers.

Any chance you could have sat on the key?  :undecided:

That was my initial thought - but when I tried this later, I can't make my doors open from in the house!
The more I search and read, the more its looking like I'll have to go back to VW as its a proper fault.

I can hopefully get my whistling window seals changed at the same time though!

Had a brief look outside today - and they're still up thankfully!

As Snoopy said it was a MK5 problem which the MK6 appears to have inherited. I cant for the life of me remeber what the fix was but I would get it back to the dealer ASAP. Imagine the wrong person walking past your lovely Golf R and seeing the window down . . . . .

I don't know how this to say in englisch but it had something to do with the comfort module.
