I think cams should be next, best to speak to khare about it as he's done it. Have you got the suspension and brakes sorted cos there isnt much you can do with an 8v engine so Id concentrate on them!

Yep.

Even if you throw £700 at your 8v the gains will be small.

Even £700 at an ABF won't see you particularly big gains, but at least it's a better base than an 8v

Standard answer on here - 'sell it and buy a 16v'

I would spend the money getting the basic engine mods done and then sort the handling. This could be done within your budget. Then strip all of the unnecessary weight out of it and have some track fun! It wont be as quick as a 16v but it will still be fun!

Yup agreed with the people above.

Better off spending on a 16v. If engine has to be 8v, I'd leave it well alone and spend all my money on a decent set of shocks and springs, polybushes and decent tyres. Over the course of a lap you'll see a bigger gain compared to spending 700 on engine mods.

Believe me, a good handling 8v with decent brakes will outperform a standard 16v around the track.

Not really but it makes the most sense, spend £700 and you will still not have the power of the ABF plus with it reving higher it suits a track better.

You have two options..

1. spend the money on cams and a remap and then some decent shocks and springs. Even then, you will still be underpowered compared to a standard 16v ABF

2. Sell the 8v buy a decent 16v ABF and do alll the above, should see some gains and it will more then you would get from the 8v also costing around the same.

In thoery, the money spent on the 16v compared to the 8v would more or less the same if you were to do simular mods. The gains however would be much more in favour of the 16v

Khare is a good example as he cammed his 8v yet he still decided to go for the ABF
