I.C.E Advice needed
« on: 12 November 2010, 11:44 »
Alright guys?

I'm looking to install some new sounds in my car soon but just need a little advice with what can go with what and what's crap

i was looking to get this headunit...

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/11420.html

these component speakers

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/10235.html

I've got a 1000W FLI amp and 1000W JBL sub, i want to power the speakers seperatly from the Headunit with and amp if that's possible? If so, Can anyone show me what i would need please?... + wiring kits etc etc.

Also, is there anything else that i would need to actually fit these, i think i remember someone said you need an adaptor to fit aftermarket speakers into the Bora... (02 plate)

Thanks!

Personally i dont like Fusion stuff,id put a bit more money to it and get a decent set of Focal,Rainbow or Infinity components, this is where the money should be spent as all the work and sound quality is done by the fronts.
Usually the best route to go down is power the sub and components via the amp and run the rear fill speakers off the headunit,as you dont want to take too much power to the rear's as it takes too much of the sound to the rear imo.
That headunit looks nice though,im guessing the Bora has a double din headunit already?

Wiring wise get a good quality amp wiring kit that will have the power, earth(to be mounted as close to the amp in as short a distance as possible)RCA leads and a decent fuse to go as close as possible to the + terminal on the battery.

Jobs a gudn

They've got quite a few different components around the same price so I'll take a look at some different ones...

What sort of power amp should I be looking to get for the front speakers then? Any recommendations?

Cheers mate

And no it hasn't got a double din already... Would that be a problem?

You want to match the amp power to the speaker power. So 4ohm speakers rated at 50wrms would ideally want 2x50wrms @ 4ohm.

Also if you havnt got space for a double din headunit your in trouble,as they are leterally double the size :)

Compared to:

I have a 7" motorised touch screen dvd player up front as i dont have room for a double din.Works well.

Well generally if your car doesn't have a double din as standard, it's alot of work to get it in.

Bora should be the same as a Mark 4 Golf. The cubby hole space above the single din stereo will easily remove to allow a double din to be fitted. Pretty easy to do really.
