electric heated wing mirror
« on: 06 November 2010, 21:01 »
hello  all

my drivers side mirror dont work  --- have taken it apart and the problem is the internal electric motor  ---british part number 2063795  made in Holland by ilu ( looks like ) --- have found one on e bay  ( looks the same )  but is off mk3  ford  --- any one know if it is the same  as used by VW ?

If I want to take the whole mirror  off  do I have to take the door lining off to unbolt it   --- then I could just fit complete new mirror unit

cheers

Rob

Just change the mirror,It would be less hassle and you dont have to take the card off.

Fair play if you want to change the motor tho,Many like me wouldn't be arsed to

I replaced the mirror on mine, seemed the easier option.

You can unbolt the mirror by just removing the  triangular inner door cover behind the mirror but you need to remove the door card to disconnect the wiring. Not a difficult job.

forme  it seems easier  just to replace the motor  and cheaper  !     £25  for new mirror  plus a bit of  dismantling  v   £ 4  for motor  and easy refit

all you have to do is  " pop " the mirror off  and the motor  just unbolts with three  little  bolts and a star head screwdriver  undoes these
