Problems with my TDI :( Another problem !!
« on: 05 November 2010, 10:11 »
Hi,

Wonder if anyone can give me any clues to whats wrong with my car.

Basically it starts first time, ticks over fine, but when i drive it stutters like its pulling back, is very smokey and when i put my foot down (while driving) i can hear like loads of air from the passenger side.

Any ideas ?

Another problem * Had the hose replaced today as the lugs were worn out, all was fine, then suddenly out of nowhere i have a clicking behind the dash, everything works as it should, but the clicking sounds like a relay

That's the thing - the whooooosing sounds pretty cool but you go no where fast

To the OP get you head under the bonnet and look for any loose connections / split pipes

What engine have you got?  Does it sound like its coming through the air vents?

I swear it must be the weather changing or the clocks going back but we seem to have a collective of boost leakers this week lol

It does sound like its coming from the air vents

Kerrse - I just read your thread and thought your symptoms sounded familiar

The car is the 150 model, looked for any loose hoses but couldn't see any, never looked for split hoses, is there an easy way to see where the leak is coming from, or is it just search till you find it

Could well be the red turbo outlet pipe as mine made exactly the same noise.  Trouble is you need the car in the air to get at it

Brace yourself as its £100 from VW

Indeed just a case of checking over all your hoses look for any signs of oil, splits etc check the joints ie: see if there is any play this can be due to lug wear or the clips have stretched.  Borrowed the diagram from another thread shows you all thew pipes to check !

More than likely just pipe degradation due to water ingress and temperature changes.

Are there not some silicone upgrades that can be applied to these? As it does seem quite a regular occurance.
