You can weld a patch in were the sunroof was but you need a good sheetmetal man and there few and far between nowadays.

Its a pretty easy straightforward job to fit a donor roof panel, if you can find one, welding the existing whole up, would be a nightmare and ill advised... iirc Chris Peacock has a thread on this forum from some years ago, where he needed to do the same to a Mk1

Welding the roof will be an absolute b!tch of a job as its so thin  :undecided:
