DVC question
« on: 30 October 2010, 00:46 »
Ok so i have 2 JBL gto1202D's.

How to wire these up for maximum effect?

To a big mono amp? (how do i wire 4 coils to 1 output?)

To a multi channel? ( 2 coils per channel bridged on 4 channel, or 2 coils per channel on a 2 channel amp?)

Any help appreciated  :smiley:

do you still have the link bars in place on the subs so they are reading 4 ohm
if so then all you need to do is connect the + of each speaker to the + on the amps speaker outputs and the same with the -
this will give you a 2 ohm load on the amp

I have them like this at the min, but the amp is a four channel one, and im using the channels bridged...

Its only a low power JBL one, 2 x 235 @ 2ohms (bridged) i think, looking to buy new amp soon as i know im really underpowering these, just interested what sort of amp would give me maximum effect with these.

Also, where they 300rms, does that mean per coil or overall?

Wiring at the min;

you have wired it exactly right
and the power is over both the coils so each sub is 300 rms

So what ohms are the subs running at at the min? 4 ohms?

If i had a bigger amp, could i wire them up to 2 ohms, 1 ohm?

4 ohm each at the moment
however if you got a 2 ohm mono sub amp then that will work aswell but you need one that will ideally do a minimum of 500 rms
