Does this mean yes cos I've just destroyed one and could get some 8v ones but do they fit. Mines an 87 16valve if that helps

8vs ones 100% fit 16v. the gearbox is identical in size, and also engine is too

Might be wrong but were the later ones not bigger output flanges on the gearbox.  :undecided:

I think you're confusing the sub-GTI vehicles where they use 90mm CVs, not the 100mm CVs of the GTI/16V
