Smoking issues
« on: 23 October 2010, 17:19 »
I have a golf GTTDI with a allard egr delete, forge FMIC and a brand new AFM and a Remap from R-tech performance.

Now my car smokes really bad!! black soot whenever in the boost range, soots up the back of the car. Its bloody annoying and im sure this isnt the norm for remapped tdi's. The supplier of the remap has now stopped using that map and now use a Revo map.

The two last things it could be is turbo and injectors? can injectors really make your car smoke that bad???

The fact it has a petrol backbox dosnt help keeping it off the car or causing a swirl?

I will record a video soon.

Any input would be great :-)

Injectors on the way out usually cause a diesel to look like a startled squid under acceleration. Might be worth getting them checked out. Have been telling the mrs she needs new ones on her Mondeo for ages, bloody embarrasment when you get your toe down.

It might not be the injectors, overfueling will cause it and that could be down to the map or a few other issues.

Glow plugs??   They're only used when starting the car.....

Remapped TDI's WILL smoke after a remap.  If its excessive smoke then chances are you've got a boost leak somewhere in your system

What map are you running now as you state its an R-Tech map then say they've stopped using it and put a REVO one on? R-Tech supply their own maps as well as REVO

agreed, especially if it's only started happening recently. weak pipe connections can begin to fail quite quickly after a remap.

I have got a revo remap on my golf and it deosnt smoke too bad under load. As said, sounds like a possible boost leak.

What engine you running?  I'm assuming by having a Forge FMIC fitted its the 130

Need to do some logging and view the boost and injector logs
