decision made....
found a very good vw specialist in the NW not far from me thats to lewizkid

(you beaut...) seem to know exactly what wrong with all the little faults:
- the oil warning light coming on at idle is the bearings
-going to raise it slightly to stop scrubbing over speed bumps
- fix the horn and get air horn put on
-could be the central locking draining the battery. going to diagnose and new cat 1 alarm to be installed proffessionally is onyl 180 notes- compared with 350 i got quoted by the clifford buggers.
Going to cost me a few hundred quid which is alot. But after that she should be sweet as a nut, and a few bits of bodywork done for the shows in the summer.
Plus im not sure the beetle is me...
