Although I have mates putting 500wrms into gt5s and playing hard all day long without problems. As long as you don't clip them you should be fine.

have they re-coned them?

have a look at

or

what amp wiring kit you using?

Only need to re-cone if you fry it or want to change impedance.

ye, you delibrately blow them so you can re-cone them, by doing this you improve them so you can push more power through them, can only be done with jbl's as well apparently

Never heard of that?

Also don't see the point of re-coning a £50 sub. If I blew my 18" I'd see the point as it's expensive. But a GT5, just buy a new one!

does anyone know what amp will run these 2 GT5's so they both go about 500w each at the highest? i really don't understand the whole Ohms and independance haha. Thanks for the help though guys! really appreciate it!!

EDIT: Would i be able to get a decent amp that could have 1000w RMS? 2 run both of the subs? there both suppose to go about 1000w each but if i get a 2 channel amp would it run them both smooth?

They're not 1000w each. 275w rms 4ohm svc. Ignore peak.

A jbl gto 7001 will run them lovely.

The T1 amp tazzy linked wouldn't work with your two subs. Wrong impedance and I think the kenwood power is peak so prob only 300w x1 @ 2ohm so not powerful enough to do the gt5s justice.

Okay man, thanks alot for your help!!
Just one more thing, what is the best subwoofer that could go about 1000w RMS? :) I was looking into this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PIONEER-TS-W3004SPL-12-SUB-SUBWOOFER-1000W-RMS-ORION-/320604855989?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_Car_Speakers_PP&hash=item4aa589deb5
do you think 2 of them would throw off enough bass? :)

Don't take this the wrong way.

It sounds like you don't know what you want!

What do you actually want from you system?

Is this a quick throw it in the boot jobby or are you looking at building an install over time?

I wouldn't go with pioneer in all fairness. Have a look into spl dynamics not splx, AA, FI, Orion.

Two twelves ported would want at least 4cu ft after displacements. If your thinking of running 2k rms you'll want more batteries. Lots of 0awg and a fully sound deadened car ideally.

Plan your install out before you buy any kit otherwise it'll cost you double and take twice as long. Trust me I've got first hand experience with that.
