K jet is not that bad but given the choice it would be better to run the factory managment on an ABF.

The problem is that k jet can and tends to run lean

But let's face it, even if K-Jet is set up 'properly' there's nothing to stop it wandering about or being caught with its trousers down if you fill up with 95RON petrol when it was set up on 99RON.

It has no closed feedback loops, like the dual knock sensors of the ABF Digi 3.2.  Its doesn't have the lambda to help manage the mixture.

It has a flappy plate meter that controls the fuel, which is supposed to run on a specific sized engine, to which the bowl that the flappy plate rises in has been ground out to suit.  It *may* or may not have a knock sensor, with a map that's set in stone, or maybe just some vacuum advance on the dizzi.

It does not have the capacity to protect and effectively manage the engine, it just dispenses fuel vaguely right and throws spark at it.

Do it right and keep the proper management on it, rather than crowbarring in some hotch-potch of bodged together bits.

if your going to K jet a 2ltr  use a 9A it's better suited to that application.

there are meany litte differances with the ABF and all together they add up. i'm not saying it's unsutable becasuse 1 motor went bang it because i've had several apart to find out what happend and the cause has been the same.

the ABF is higher compression and it has longer rods meaning the piston stays at TDC longer,  meaning if fed the same AFR and spark timeing as a 9A it much more likely to have det issues,  and as the using the kr ignition it getting spark advance desinged for a kr. none of the differances are massive but together they are enough for potential problems
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Not wishing to hijack but as we are discussing the ABF here I thought I'd ask rather rthan starting another thread, is the Lambda probe on the ABF a 4wire type?
Been offered one off a 1.8t but the plug would be different(?)Probs simpler getting an ABF one, but anyone know a good supplier of Lambda's?

Mine got lost in garage move.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

yeah its 4 wire type, can use bosch universal one which can be had quite cheap, just need to get the plug end to fit your loom from the scrappy (early ones differ to late)

this is what you need:
Universal 4 wire - 0 258 986 503 (LS03) - 18 watt heater and grounded case
