Iv'e never slated a mk3 before... everybody just went nuts!  only one mk3 owner in defense to start with too!  that'll teach you mk3 boys for poking a stick at the old skool!

Haha, well i'd defend it but i'm taking the moral high road! 

Also deep down I think that most of us know that a mk2 is more fun and more deserving of the gti badge than a Mk3, but a mk3 suits my needs better. It was cheaper than a mk2 and i'm doing about 20k miles a year at the moment so comfort is important to me so the Mk3 wins for me for now
