Let's wait and see then.

No, don't wait and see, get out there and join your local motor sport club, go and do 12 car scatters, do auto-tests and auto-solos, marshal, volunteer, get involved.

Sitting on your ar$e, with your arms folded tritely saying 'bring it to me' results in f*ck all.  You will get precisely what you deserve and  no more than you have put in.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

You misunderstood me. I've got no interest in getting this going, there are tracks for racing. Even though it would be marshalled the risk is high, look at the TT race, high speed crashes all over the place. All it takes is a complete amateur with money to enter one of these events and put at risk the life of spectators.

That is what makes the TT what it is, to run the TT on a race track would finish it.

Interesting to see this thread. It's very real - closed public road stage rallying has taken place on the Isle of Mull for many years.

Back in 1997 (ish) the Jim Clark Rally moved out of the Kielder forests onto the public roads. I was there, 97-99, and even the Police took an interest, bringing out the hairdryers, and calling closing speeds to the throng of spectators present.

That took an Act of Parliament for that one named event, and it continues on those Berwickshire roads until this day, very successfully indeed. What they want to do is get a wider acceptance of public road use, and fingers crossed they'll get it.

Wales Rally GB / The RAC Rally hasn't used public roads for many years.

track racing is completly diferent to closed road rallying theres different terrains only knowing what the corner is going to be only through listening to the co driver, watching talented lads in 1400 and 1600 polos and novas beating subarus worth £200,000. In ireland, scotland and isle of man it is run very succesfully. In our motor club we signed up to have closed road rallying along with most motor clubs.

the 2wd 1600's often complete stages faster than the 2ltr 4wd turbo cars.

ALL MOTORSPORT IS GOOD. and really it's not THAT dangerous,  the cars are likely to take a smack there built to take one hell of smack should they end up departing the course that's what multipoint cages, harness bars, bucket seats, harnesses and helmets aree all about and spectators are generly told not to stand it stupid places.

the only thing that motorsport is really dangerous to is your wallet. you will want to go faster going faster means spending money much faster
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
