Not revving over 5000rpm means the timing is out and it's gone into safe mode. Could be the hall sender or the dizzy Mate.

It's not necessarily that the timing is out, when I had the problem my timing was spot on it was just a faulty hall sensor

As for the relay, just replace it!

How difficult was it to change the hall sensor Dom or is it easier just to change the entire dizzy ??  Mine has gone into safe mode and is giving the hall sensor fault code. I have the parts on the car I am breaking but because of the rain can't get to have a look under there yet

Defo worth getting on a Vag Com or fault code reader Buddy as this should give you a code Mate.

Relay 30, that's the ECU relay, which could be something to do with the 5000rpm limit. If the relay doesn't solve it then it's either a dodgy hall sensor or bad timing, however if you've not had a recent cambelt change the it's likely to be the hall sensor as the timing wouldn't have changed by itself.

@Deano Easier to change the dizzy, especially if you've already got another one that you can just swop over

@mk3dan: as Deano has just said def get it scanned with a Vag Com
