Just went into the local kwik fit near my work. They said they couldn't fix it coz the nail is too close to the side wall. New tyre is my only option and they wanted £200 for a new Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyre. Is this the price I'm looking at??!!!
Going to put the spare wheel on now and try to find a cheaper place.
I'd tell them to Foxtrot Oscar. In my calculations they are basically taking £100 to fit it.

+1
Go to Hounslow Tyres, 325 Staines Road (off Ivey Lane) in West London, Tel No 0208 570 9937. They do all VW and Audi Wheels and Tyres, Wheel balancing, Tracking. Charge approx £120 to £140 incl fitting etc. I know they charge £146 all in for Michelin PS3s.

There are a few derivatives of the Potenza RE050A tyre. The difference being the tread is lightly different.
This is the version for the golf assuming its 18"wheels you have.
Mind that price is for supply only. Add another £10 at least for fitting and it will show you roughly what kind of price you are looking at.

If your local VW dealers in Battersea your not far from where I work then in Wandsworth...... anyway I would recommend using Southfields Tyre & Battery Service Ltd, 288-290 Merton Rd, London SW185JN Tel: 020 8874 5656

You could try the net, they often send a local mobile one out to you and you maybe able to use one of the forum discount code depending who you get it off. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?board=55.0

The tyre in the link is my one. Gosh, didn't realise they where that expensive. I guess that's the price we pay for driving such a great car. All the parts are a lot more expensive.

Thanks for the info guys.
