as a short term fix, try puttin 2 washers on the plug and see if it tightens.

id be worried about using any gasket seal on the plug, it will most likely leak if theres no 'bite' on the threads

sh!t, I feel for you mate. Not sure what else to do apart from a new plug, or even with the use of a helicoil, but as you say, you can't get anything today. Eeeek  :undecided:
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.

dont think you've got any option but to leave the car at home cos if the plug comes out while driving that'l be it  is it the thread on the plug or sump that breaking up?

fear is temporary, regret lasts forever...

most likely id say the thread is stripping off the sump, you could always drill it bigger and tap it for a larger bolt.

are the sumps aluminium? helicoils arent that good on alloy, we were using them at work on the gearboxes (notorious for the oil pipe to strip the threads on a voith gearbox) and the coils were coming loose, quite surprising especially for how tight and sealed they were in there
