Here's one for ya,
I changed out the head unit on my Mk3 for an Alpine chappie. Now, the car has an alarm and imobiliser fitted (unknown make and model)but the problem I have is that when I turn the car off and remove the key I lose all the settings from previous and I have to start all over again. Its as if all power is removed as soon as the key is taken out. Is there any way I can put some kind of permanent live to the head unit (without butchering things too much) to keep the memory? I did think about taking a feed from the cigarette lighter to the head unit but there is power there constantly and I would have to physically turn the stereo off every time I leave the car. Basically I want the stereo to go off when the key is taken out but when I turn it back on I want it to maintain my settings
Help please...
