16v Engine Rebuild
« on: 23 September 2010, 22:31 »
Hi guys,
I'm going to be rebuilding a 16v engine (the head gasket is gone), along the way, what do you think I should change/upgrade and what are rough costs for these parts?

Cheers

Will

Have the head checked and skimmed also you must use new head bolts.

If your stripping it right down, new shells (mains and bigend) and maybe rings would be a good move.

while head is out you may want to have it reconditioned. New valve guides, steam oil seals, tappets, skim and regrind the valves in. And while all that is being done, why not open her up and get it ported and polished?

Well, there are some engine rebuild kit that are readily available online. That is where I bought mine. Though sometimes, it is best to go to your local dealer and mechanic.

nice conversion and write up tshirt2k.
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
