Oh, and don't forget to tell your insurance company; you were going to tell them weren't you?

Do the chipping - you are unlikely to regret it. I did my mk5 18 months ago and its runs perfect still but is soooo much better. Regarding not telling your ins company - if you are involved in a serious accident (injury/death) the police are likely to go over your car with a fine tooth-comb as part of their investigation. Your insurance will be null and void if it is noted that the car has been modified, then you are in a world of sh!t. So if you can afford to chip it, then you can afford to pay the difference, it made about 80quid difference for my insurance. (I'm with m&s - so nobody super special etc)
Tell your insurance company - if you dont then you are a dangerous fool.

Re-mapping my car really dosen't fuss me if I'm honest. I find my car plenty quick enough.

Re-map will definately be an upgrade i will look at. Will probably wait until the car is nearing it's 3rd birthday though.

Think i've decided this one is going to be a keeper so i want to look after it.

So in short, go for it, research it first though.
