As said your thermostat needs replacing your sensor should be fine if you've not long changed it preferably with the o.e.m item tho and i would fit an o.e.m stat to and as winters approaching some new G12++ coolant too

ah so the temp sensor and the thermostat are different things? yea got an OEM one from VW, and i'll do a cooland change too. and reason why id use G12++ opposed to G12+? its an AGU if that helps

They certainly are and its worth getting it changed soon as the weather will be getting cooler soon the G12++ is afaik just an updated coolant so to speak to replace the earlier stuff some dealers may have stock of the older stuff i don't think it makes all that much difference it could be down to the fact of the make up of the coolant,inhibitors etc etc
