Nope, it's deffo dead. I might be in luck though as a chap on the MX5 forum thinks he has some used ones in his workshop. Waiting to hear back.

Also found a chap in Newbury who rebuilds Koni dampers that could be an even cheaper fix.

According to a survey in this months practical classic only 7% of readers think the MX-5 will be an icon in 50 years time.  But as a caveat...

...On the opposite page is the answer to "How old are you"

Under 30:   4%
30-39:      10%
40-49:      24%
50-59:      30%
60-69:      26%
70+:          6%

Although the MX-5 does make in in - as a new entry - into the top 10 classics owned by readers.

Comes in at number 9.  Golf is number 8.

So there you go.

Bit of an update.

I've blown a rear damper which has made the car all but undrivable, it's very sketchy! I've also sourced a good council garage to keep the Golf in when it's finished and bought the MG ZT as a daily. Sooooooooooooo...........the MX5 will be going into the council garage tomorrow as in there I can pull the rear dampers off and leave it on stands without upsetting my neighbors outside our flat. The dampers will then be going to a chap in Newbury to be rebuilt.

Sadly it looks like the Golf won't be anywhere near ready for the Trackday I have booked on the 25th May, therefore I shall be doing it in the 5. This means as well as sorting the dampers I need to give it a good service and going over before then to make it sure it's in tip top shape. I'll also have to see if my track wheels and tyres for the Golf fit OK, they should do as they're 15x7 4x100 ET25 fitted with Toyo R888s.

MX5 tucked up in the garage while I remove the rear dampers and get them sent off to be rebuilt.

I never understood why they build garages which when you park a car in there you can't get out of it?!
