Dubious DIY Skills
« on: 01 September 2010, 20:08 »
So, I've had my car 6 or so weeks.

Over the bank holiday wekend I went to get the car out the garage to find .... one of the shelves I put up to house the overflow stuff from the house on [staples like bags of rice, cornflakes, bottles of cider, bottles of bleach - oh and a radio cassette player] had fallen down.  All this and the shelf itself ended up on the bonnet of my gorgeous, ninth month waiting for the pleasure of Gti.

I feared the worst when I gingerly backed the car out.  After wiping of some heavy scuffs I thought I'd gotten off lightly ... BUT, there's a thumb-size ding in the bonnet just above the VW badge.  From what I can see, there doesn't look a way to get 'inside' this part of the bonnet to do a knock out of this dent.

Your thoughts will be appreciated as to the best way to progress a fix.

In the meantime, the shelf is well and truly secured to the wall and the other half has /managed/ to clear a cupboard in the kitchen to put the BLOODY KITCHEN STUFF in in the first place.

Dancing with tears in my eyes ...

It would amaze you what these dentmaster guys can do with very limited space.
If they can't get access then they can drill in and do it that way. You would never know there had a been a dent in the first place.
My local one charges £50 a panel.

So if it's within an inch of the bonnet edge you should be ok....if you look underneath the bonnet there are two small holes near the catch....one of those dent guys was able to use those holes to push out a small dent I had in my mk5 GTI bonnet (same as mk6) ...it's amazing what they can do with their levers/tools

Sorry I didn't mean dentmaster guy as in the company "dentmaster".
Any dent specialist chappie should be able to sort it for you. Nothing to lose.
