Personally I love the jacara cloth in my GTI, having carried a number of passengers in the past year I've had many compliments on the tartan effect and 1 year on the cloth looks as good as new.

VW leather is not premium quallity and sags very quicklly which spoils that supposed premium feel.

Come on Gizzy, get with the program..... you know you like the feel of leather on your bottom

This is getting weird! 'fun' but weird! As far as the seats go, if the company is payin then go for it imo, it's way over priced but who cares if your not payin?! Just my 2p.

+1 Just go for it. Spec it as high as possible and make us GTI guys all jealous.

ps there's plenty of decent spec"d demo R's in stock. Why not cut out the waiting time and save a few pennies.

I have just been on the VW website and configured an R and a GTI to the spec that I have on my car at present.

The R came in at £37,545.00 and the GTI at £31,065.00, now I know that a remap is not going to cost me anywhere near £6000 so if it were me I would go for the GTI and get a decent remap done on it.

In my view the R whilst no doubt a great car to drive is no looker, whereas the GTI does have a certain head turning impact which always puts a smille on my face.

Could I afford an R? probably, would I consider an R? probably not.  But then I am as tight as a ducks a**e and also deeply in love with my GTI.
