mk3 1.8-2.0 8v petrol gearbox will fit straight on, as will mk2 16v. but with the 16v and 21.0 8v box you need a 16v clutch kit. the flanges on 1.8 MK2 and 1.8-2.0 MK3 petrol models are all the same size, so no need to touch em. its the 1.6 petrol ones that have 90mm flanges on

i got mine up on axlestands and dropped it out the bottom i just had to turn the diff to the top when i removed the box and again when fitting the new one, but i got a little problem with mine now makes a weird noise when pressing the clutch but it cant be the relese bearing because they dont have one its a really wierd setup to the clutch if yours is the same type as mine its like the flywheel sits over the top of the clutch and u will need a 9mm 12sides socket to remove it.

they do have a relese bearing it's just not in the normal place

really! where? i thought there was just a plate with a push rod, could this be the noise on mine?
