The road from Pickering to Whitby across the Moors is an ideal run for the GTI with plenty of straights and some tricky bends too.

+1. I used to love that road when I lived in Yorkshire. Haven't been back in a long while, though. I'd love to give it a go in the GTI

Does anyone with a DSG actually ever use the paddleshifts regularly? In thinking I was the next ‘Lewis Hamilton’, I had a little play with the paddleshifts this morning on the way in to work. Good fun, but to be honest it’s the first time I've ever really used them.

I love it in my standard manual GTI, so for a remapped car using the paddles = awesome

Mine's a manual as I dislike automatics.

If I had one though I'd probably use the paddles and gear lever shift a lot for the first 6 months or so.

Then leave it in auto.

Do you use your stick to control the dogs whilst they are rounding the sheep?

Use them all the time as well, don't really like the auto modes, except when stuck in traffic.

I used them that much on the MK5 that I had to get one replaced under warranty as the rubber coating had worn off

I have a MK5 GTI that is nearly 5 years old now, and the rubber coating on my paddle sifts has started to wear off. I brought the car from a main dealer in November and it came with the extended warranty, do you think they will replace mine under the warranty?

Mrk V, GTI, 3dr, DSG, heated seats, winter pack, cruise control, rear parking sensors and now thanks to GizzyWizzy and SteveP in the MK6 section a RCD 510. Awesome!
