DSG Paddleshift's, ever use them?
« on: 11 August 2010, 11:14 »
Does anyone with a DSG actually ever use the paddleshifts regularly? In thinking I was the next ‘Lewis Hamilton’, I had a little play with the paddleshifts this morning on the way in to work. Good fun, but to be honest it’s the first time I've ever really used them.

I use them every day that I drive my car. I couldn't have an automatic without them. I also use the shifter mode on the stick alot.

I use them more than I use auto really.

I only really use full auto when I'm in traffic.

Use them all the time as well, don't really like the auto modes, except when stuck in traffic.

I used them that much on the MK5 that I had to get one replaced under warranty as the rubber coating had worn off

^^^ Cheers for the replies.... that's interesting as I've never really used them. Well I don't want to miss out on the action, so I best give them a real go.

It took me a couple of weeks to start using the paddles and the gearshift but I must admit I haven't really used them in anger yet - most of my 800 miles have been in traffic.

I am though heading to the North Yorks Moors next week for a few days so should get a good opportunity to use them there.

Every time I use them, I say to myself that I should really use them a lot more often. But I don't

I have to confess on my last car (a MK5 GT 170 DSG) I honestly didn't use the paddleshifts once in nearly 3 years of owning the car. What a lazy driver I must be :embarassed:

I shall endeavour to make amends on the GTI and see what I'm missing

Oh yeah where abouts?

The road from Pickering to Whitby across the Moors is an ideal run for the GTI with plenty of straights and some tricky bends too.
