ABF + G60 supercharger.

Thinking of upgrading the valver with an ABF. It is worth adding a G60 to it as well? Is it as simple to do and has anyone here done it/got one?

After some pros and cons.

its not so straight forward. Needs some brackets for alternator relocation. ABF + eaton M62 is easier with the eaton going in place of AC pump on the ABF. Still needs fabrication to mount it.

Not a 20min job but do able. A chap by name of Rysho did one in a Seat a while back.

G60 perhaps not the best option as expensive and design has been improved since then, as mentioned Eaton, lysholm, rotrex etc etc

G60 isn't really big enough for a 2ltr 16v

std G60 1.8 8v is 160 bhp book,   std ABF is 150 bhp.  to get a worthwhile performance increse you will have to run a very small pully and that dosent do the g60's life expectancy any good

You can *just* push 300bhp on a 2l 16v g60 on a 68mm, as shown by jezzag60's build on corrado forum, but its a proper build, your talking scat rods, emerald management, water injection, big injectors, ported head etc etc.

240ish seems to be about where basic 'budget' builds are making, which, when compared to a ported, cam'd, 65mm'd 8v g60 which generally make 210-220, hardly seems worth the extra expense and massive effort.

the 20 ish bhp differance between a twerked 8v g60 and a budget 16v g60 to me a very big hint that the charger is pritty much out of puff.  if you really put the effort in on a 16v and use a fully worked over audi v8 head and forged bottom end with some really nice big barrel throttels you can get more than 240 NA

I am (slowly as time tight) building Mk2 ABF with ported head, Eaton M62 (Merc kompressor, not smaller mini M45). This has also been ported and the roller vanes have been coated with a heat resistant finish.
This will be fast road 'every day use' car so wont be a tempramental dyno queen, but built to be solid, torquey and reliable.
Air con bracket will be adapted, ARP head studs and maybe rod bolts, then wit MS or similar.
There will be some fabricaion but that's half the fun I think. It' all going without toomuch of a hitch so far.

Eaton M62 will be a better bet than a G60 blower.

Thanks for the advice guys.  I'm not after a monster racer.just a tidy everday car.  Ill do some research into these Eaton superchargers.
