Oil Pressure Warning light & stupid buzzer
« on: 04 August 2010, 13:46 »
Soo basically you might remember since iv had my MK3 1.6 CL 95, my oil pressure light has been going off whenever the car warms up (resons why in previous threads)

It's still going off and until i can afford to replace the oil pump (start of next month) i want to get rid off the speaker/buzzer/stupidnoisythingy.

I had a root around last night (took whole dash board off... long) still couldnt find it. Thought i cracked it when i got rid of the buzzer that tells me when my lights are on, turns out its got its own special noise maker

Put dash together and I'm still none the wiser. i know this isn't sensible but i am getting it fixed and if i can get rid of it, it might stop me going mad ha

so if anyone could tell me where it is, how to remove it that would be great

cheers

jon

If you have low oil pressure you're an idiot for driving it. The engine will be slowly killing itself. Expect bottom end knocking followed by complete bearing failure in the near future. A new oil pump is much cheaper than a new engine. Use the bus till you get it fixed.

theres nothing wrong with the engine though the oil pressure is just a tad low after a while. im not sure if the new oil pump will even make a difference i took it to a garage and they said they dont know what it is, just try a new pump.

im barely driving it but i need it for work which isnt far away just wanted a bit of help

Yes but if the oil pressure is low then all your doing by driving it is making what was a small issue a lot bigger.

Bearings etc will not last long, I suspect the damage has already been done.

The only way to know for sure is to hook up an oil pressure gauge and see what the readings are at the oil filter housing at the side of the head. Did the garage do this and if so what were the readings?
