they did check it through a pressure gauge and said it was creeping into low once the engine was fully warmed up but they said it wasn't enough to cause any harm, so im not sure weather the new oil pump will make the difference

If that's the case then you maybe OK but if it's low enough to set the buzzer off that's really not good. My MKII is currently off the road as it's dropping pressure when hot and I dare not use it.

A new pump may help as the pick up could be blocked, this has happened to me and a new pump (or cleaning the gauze on the old one) fixed it. This time I'm not sure what my problem is as I haven't dropped the sump off yet.

yeah hopefully everythings fine and the new oil pump will restore it to a good pressure, even once its warmed up. I suspected it was the oil switch at first but even after changing that and a oil, oil filter change it was going off so new oil pump will probably be a good call, im going to take it into the garage tomorrow and get them to check pressure make sure its still ok to drive on just to make sure.

back on topic though any ideas on how to get rid of the beeper?

hope the MKII gets better though

Taking the wires off the senders and wrapping them in electrical tape should sort it out.

Why remove the beeper, it is telling you that you have a problem.

It may save your engine in the future.

Also if you have oil pressure dropping when hot do not drive it, you have been lucky up to now but you run the risk of damage if you carry on using it.

There will be a couple of sensors (it's a GTI right?) that set off the buzzer when the pressure drops below a certain level. If you pull the connectors off them and tape them up they wont read the pressure drop and set the buzzer off. Would really need you car spec and engine code to confirm where they are on your car though.

I can't believe what's in this thread.
If the oil pressure is low, do NOT drive the car.
You don't know if damage is being done, once the engine starts knocking it will be too late.
It might not even be a knackered oil pump, remove the sump and check the oil strainer, it may be partially blocked.
