Even if you have the long life service 20k its still 20k or 12 months which ever comes first so you sould still get 3 services in 3 years.

Long Life service is 18K miles or 24 months, whichever come first.

^^ which would mean two or even one service for the £250.

Mine is showing 211 days (thats a total approx  500 since new) or 5k before the next service, that will make it around 18 months old.

I'll be taking it in for a service on it's first birthday anyway, just wondering how many on the service plan are being diddled.

Finally found the paperwork from my dealer for the £250 plan.

"Once you've made a payment of £250, your first 3 services are taken care of.'

12 months/10,000 Oil change service
24 months/20, 000 Interval service (including oil change)
36 months/30,000 Inspection service(including oil change) and brake fluid change.

So ignore what the service interval on the car says and take it in every 12 months. Make sure the 3rd service is just before the 3 years are up or you'll miss out.

I took out the 3 year servicing deal on my R. The dealer insisted the car was set to T&D, not longlife. I wasn't going to argue.

Ok I don't have that interval so you must be right.

Can someone just remind me how long this can be purchased after picking up the car?

90 days max. But remember it has to be processed by VWuk within that 90 days period  so a much shorter time in reality

IMHO GTI's (or any other performance car) shouldn't be LL servicing.

I had mine switched to T&D at the PDI so I get a true 3 services out of the £250

Same here...

The thought of going 18000 miles on the same sump full of oil, fills me with dread.
Yearly service and oil change for me.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

As I mainly drive in London town, up and down the Marylebone Road, stated as Europe's busiest city road, day-in and day-out, I will change my oil every 6 months and use Motul Specific 504 00 5W30. Best to be safe than sorry. I also run the engine for a minute or so before I drive off and before I switch off. Good for turbo engines I am told.

Oil change very 5000 for me.
I got the 3 years free servicing at time of purchase. Also getting the next oil change free, as the garage tech spilt oil on the engine bay when it was in at 5000. It's been a bit of a pain to remove so far
