I agree. Top spec tyres are all pretty good for most normal driving, but their road noise can vary considerably. This can be most irritating as it is constant on nearly all our very poor road surfaces.
I hear the Goodyears are pretty good.

Have we ever had a company or a specialist forum or even manufacturers done trials on the road noise of each of the popular makes ? It would be pretty interesting.

My car was delivered July 2009 on Bridgestone Potenzas, so far I have had no issues re noise or bumpy ride.

I have just returned from 2 weeks driving around the roads of Devon putting in just over 2000 miles and the tyres have been perfect no problems at all.

When my tyres are due for renewal I would be quite happy to get the same rubber again.

By the way my car is booked in for its first service next week and  as I am on the service plan here's hoping that it will cost me nothing, ie no little nightmares that I am unaware of.

Try this one http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2010-European-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm

Plus the other recent reviews, note be careful of the Evo 2010 test because the winning Conti was made of a specific compound only available in the test size.
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

Thanks. Good post.
Wonder which 18" ones would come out tops?

Its not the excess speed its certain road surfaces especially the ones round were im from. On mine they made a huge racket/roar. On Smooth proper tarmac rather than that grayish stone stuff there fine.
