I was with Admiral for the accelerator, then went to Adrian Flux who said it wasn't a proper NCB, only able to be used with other companies that offer such a policy (Bell, Elephant, Direct Line). So if you can get them to change the policy to a 12 month policy, you will have to pay more but it'll be worth it in the long run, otherwise you'll have to stick with that band of insurers which might now always be the best for you.
Most insurers that will take the 10 month NCB as a full years without even knowing if you change your policy to a 12 month policy for the last year of it.
Then as far as the proof of NCB is concerned, it shows X years and a 12 month policy
