You planning a future in detailing kev? you seem to have really got into it, good man.... i'll be askin you soon instead of dan and guy!
ref the refurb i'd always thought it was almost impossible to get the shadows done right if it's the metal thats damaged, they're doesn't seem to be many forum members with happy endings.

Yeah I love detailing. I learn nearly every day, do lots of reading and lots of practise. I know my polishing machines well now and the limits of both. Really like the rotary, when before I was sh!t scared of it lol. But to answer your question, no, not a career for me I'm afraid. I'll just help friends & family etc. Dan and Guy are really good, lots of experience between them. I'm just a padwan

The shadows are a nightmare, if they are never touched they gleam, if they get scratched you can notice it a mile off. I had a hairline scratch on mine.... I used VW Karlack (clear coat) to fill it, a little jiggery pokery and used my dual action machine polisher on a low setting to blend it in, it worked a treat and you can never tell it was there.

I really wouldnt know what to do if the metal got scratched. As you say, if other members dont have happy endings then it may just be a matter of get a repair done 'get it as best you can' then live with it.

Mmm padawan you say..... a jedi you will be! I've started putting jetseal on mine since you said it, works a treat and helps with the day to day grime awesome but i'm always twitchy when parkin, waiting for that scrape!

Jetseal should be awarded the medal of honour for the protection it gives

I've been putting jetseal inside my exhaust now... no I've not been drinking, but if you do this, when you polish up the outside of the exhausts you can then just wipe away the sh!t from the inside too  and they come up gleaming. quite why I'm telling you this I dont know. Ok I may have had a beer or two.  :embarassed:

Don't think about the scrape, it will only make you have nightmares. hehe.

Sweet! i'll do it next time it gets a bath, Drink up!

It's probably best I slow down, I get proper randy on drink. I'll end up having phone sex with aw1m and regretting it in the morning or spend the next 4 hrs looking for granny pron on the interweb. It's not good.

No chance Kev. Too pooped to pop. Too bloody upset with my prang. Think it is worse than it looks. Ther trailing edge of the nearside front wing is too proud of the leading edge of the door. Am sure it was not like this. Will know tomorrow when I take it into the bloodysh!t to get it fixed. Really upset. But thanks for the thought.

The dent is there but the gaps between wing and door on both sides are the same. However, the nearside wing edge is slightly further out than the door edge. Maybe it was like this all along and I did not notice it, though I doubt it. If the wing has moved then it is an insurance job. However, the prang happened when I was moving at a snail's pace.

PS: Maybe the door needs re-hanging

Another place you guys could try is Lepsons

http://www.lepsons.com/

I'm fairly sure they refurb Monza's and my dad had some AC Schnitzer alloys of his BMW refurbed there, which came back perfect.

Keeping Monza's tip top is a nightmare, that's why I'm looking for set of winter alloys at the moment. I've been offered a set of mint interlagos alloys with tyres for £650-00 but I can't make my mind up about them on the Golf at the moment.

Golf GTI mk6 DSG in black - 18inch Monza shadows - leather interior - sat nav - f/r parking sensors - heated seats - well it was a showroom model!
