Mk2 16V 1200 Idle?
« on: 05 July 2010, 20:01 »
Hey basically picked up a 16V gti and the idle is sticking at around 1100 and 1200, its a steady idle just seem's a little too high to be normal, how would I go about sorting this?

Also I do hear a noise that sounds like a tire leak (can't find any leaks in vac pipes though?) any experts in Croydon area?

Cheers Rich.

Mine idles at this too, if its dropped below there it will be lumpy, you can change the idle by a little brass screw on the throttle body area, but it will probally be lumpy and thats why its set to idle so high. Not sure what the cause is though.

That's quiet strange lol, so yours idle's fine but perfectly at the level it's at? and if lowered it'll flutuate? hmm, doesnt that waste a lot of fuel?

Go and check Rubjonny's idle or lumpy idle threads in the stickied maintenance thread eliminate the obvious then come back!

If you suspect VAC leak get some washing up liquid and start foaming the joints for suspect items!
