gearknob change

I think my Polo has the same setup for it's knob as the MKIV. It seems to have a one use type clip on the bottom.

How do you guys fit different knobs? I've got a drilled 8 ball that used to be on my camper and fancied it on the polo but looking at it I'm not sure it's possible.

What polo you got, I had a 6n with them clips I think your on about, my other knob didnt fit as it didn't have a clip, just explandable plastic hole, just whacked it on and tightened it up with some cable ties, did the trick.

It's 6N2 TDI so has a MKIV gearbox and shift linkage. I've had a look and the system looks exactly the same as the MKIV.

The problem is the knob I want to fit is just a proper pool ball that's been drilled. I'm not sure if I can therefore get it onto the shaft or if with the original knob removed the shaft will be short underneath so with just the pool ball on it's be too low down.

Yeah, how much shorter is it without the knob on? Does the shaft go all the way up inside the knob?

God this sounds gay
