no matter what head unit i plug in (iv,e tried 3) i cant get preset radio stations to stay preset do i need to run a cable from the battery or should there be one already there (golf gti 8v mk3)when i looked at a kenwood booklet it said something about extra wiring for vw,s also radio reception is awfull on mw and i like to listen to the football to see who arsenal are beating every week.

black is earth
red is ignition live
yellow is permanant live
my guess is yellow isn't on a permanant live so it looses the stations. if you bridge yellow and red it makes the radio work even when the ignition isn't on. useful for running down the battery.

Personally, I have always swapped Red and Orange over. This wiring type affects all VW's, Audis and Seats.
