My dealer gave me a litre of Castrol SLX Professional Powerflow when I picked up the car last week.

Could someone point out what filter I should use too and how to change it exactly ? If were topping up the oil it would be best to change the filter too, TT advises every 5000 miles.

Im not sure i understand what you meen Kev?
If your just topping up the level because the level on the dipstick is low or gone down alittle as when cars run in they can use aliitle oil then you simply add oil.

If your talking about an oil change as i think you maybe are then you can find information about location of the oil filter cartridge on document page 23 and page 24 of this link below (PDF page number=27,28)

I used Mobil 1 ESP for my change. VW approved. You guys pay ALOT for oil. It was almost 4x what I would of paid in the states. I changed it at 9400 miles and am sending the old oil to get analyzed to see if a 10k oil change is safe or not.  I will post up the report when I get it back

Correction of my old post:
It seems mobil1 esp 5w30  is on the approved list but no other mobil1 oil is.

He says that an oil and filter change every 5k miles ? It might be the filter cartridge in that pdf doc ?

I see he recomends an oil change and filter change every 5K

The oil filter and oil cartridge are the same thing. They use to change filters as they were all in one, now you just change the cartridge insides of the plastic filter (the paper type eliment on the inside) Its more messy. Its to save the enviroment so they say,

As an engineer i find this quite funny as cars from the 50s and 60s had cartridges you changed and going over to encased plastic filters was looked on as a progress. Now we have gone back the other way. Funny this progress lark.
