Has anyone purchased from powerbulbs.com?
« on: 29 June 2010, 11:11 »
Hi guys,

Just recieved my 'X-treme Power' bulbs to upgrade my poverty spec bulbs  , I've noticed they give you a free pack of 'Phillips Premium W5W' sidelight bulbs.

My question is: Has anyone used either? And is it worth swapping the sidelights? What sort of light do they give out? ( and breatheeeee )

Cheers guys

I have fitted both to mine, and at first I thought they were great, they certainly looked better than the OEM ones. But when I was driving down the motor way late one night, I noticed the light my bulbs were giving off was just as dull and yellow as the crappy bog standard Micras and Corsa's I passed??? Any ideas why this is?

I did just put the car through its MOT, and there was a note saying the lights where to high, but I thought that just meant the angle? Surely they wouldnt of replaced them without me knowing? They didn't charge me for any new blubs ether. I also took one blub out to check and it looked like it was the Philips one, so I have no idea why the light they are giving off now looks yellow instead of white?

I may upgrade the main bulbs to the Night Breakers anyway as they are meant to be even brighter and give off a more white light.

Has anyone got the night Breakers fitted? If so am I right in thinking they give off a brighter light that the Philips?

Sorry if I have stollen the thread here

Thanks.

Its weird, I went for the Philips because of all the good reviews they had and loads of people on here claim they are amazing. But on Sunday night I swear they looked yellow. I drove past some cars that had a nice white looking light, I dont think they had Xenons because they were more white than blue, and the cars that had them weren't top end nice cars if you know what I mean. And compaired my lights looked yellower than a 40 a day smokers teeth

haha. nice comparison.

I'd say a 60 year old with bladder problems pants

How old are your bulbs? Maybe they are faulty?

Have you fitted the side lights?

I've had Phillips X-Treme Power bulbs and Bluevision sidelights for over a year now and haven't had any problems with them. The light is not xenon-white but it's a lot better than standard. More importantly the light output is much better.
Davestylee, maybe some oil or grease got on your bulbs? Even a small bit from your finger tips is enough to effect a bulb's outputs.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

Ha ha that nice, but also disgusting at the same time.

The bulbs are only a few months old as I have only had the car for 6 months and the bulbs were the first thing I changed.

Sounds like my greasy fingers may have fudged them up. I will probably buy some Night Breakers soon as they are pretty cheap but I hear great things about them.

Try Ultra power bulbs 5000k. They're around £10 a pair online and look great. Nightbreakers are brighter though, but these ones look better as they have a slight blue tint
