Thank you.
It looks more bling in pictures than in reality.
Darren fitted the Knob and the Nav today. Fantastic guy, fabulous job. Can't thank him enough.
Really pleased.
Now I have to learn how to work the bloody thing!

Now I have to learn how to work the bloody thing!
Use your left foot and press the Clutch pedal down, (thats the pedal on the left). Move the gearlever to the left, push it forward to select number 1 gear. Then very slowly let your left foot up until you start to hear the engine noise drop and slowly start pressing the pedal on the right with your right foot. The car should start to move. Then use that round thing to select your desired direction and press the right pedal until you reach 7000rpm on the rev counter dial on the dash. Then let your right foot lift off the accelerator pedal (the one on the right), Press the left pedal down again and move that gearknob thing back toward you but keeping it to the left side. Start and lift the left pedal up and as doing so start to press the right pedal down slowly until the desired velocity is reached. If you cannot reach your desired velosity in gear 2. Then let your right foot lift off the accelerator pedal, Press the left pedal down again on the pedal on the left and move that gearknob thing forward towards the middle position it should self centre and then push it forward to select number 3.  Start and lift the left pedal up and as doing slow start to press the right pedal down slowly until desired velocity is reached.
If you are incapable of this procedure, please ring VW customer service and ask for a swop for a DSG model.

Is the plastic housing of the gearknob the same colour plastic and texture as the ashtray section on the mk6?

this by far is the best vid i've seen on teaching stick shift

note the excellent use of the handbrake turn almost killing the guy standing nearby
and the excellent use of facing towards the kerb so he has to reverse and not looking backwards whilst reversing
brilliant

The Knob

i like the idea of the Ed.30 knob; with it being rounder i expect poking the stick 'upwards' eg from 2nd -> 3rd or 4th -> 5th my hand won't slip off the knob as easily (which is a problem if i'm trying to change vigorously!), but it loses the colour coordination with the red detailing which i think is a real shame. :(
but of course you shouldn't be looking at it when you're changing
