Noob Help
« on: 25 June 2010, 23:11 »
I was thinking of putting a sub and amp in the boot of the mk5....

Would it be possible to have the sub wired up so that I can take it out and back in as required? I know the amp would need to be wired permanantly but is it the same case with the sub too?

Cheers, Nick

Hi mate

If you are going to buy a new sub then try and get one with an amp built in then get the vibe wiring kit with the fast plug. It has all the wires going into it but the added bonus that you can simply just unplug the whole lot and take the sub out (will get pictures of mine in the morning)

Alternativly make sure the amp is screwed to the back/top of the amp and get the same wiring kit

Hope this helps - if you need pics asap let me know (mtyler2489@googlemail.com) and I will take pics now for you

Cheers Mitch

Cheers bud, just a link to any products that would do the job would be great

No rush at all, just getting ideas together at the moment.

Hi buddy

Not my first choice of shop but the first option on google shop!

That's what I have screwed to the side of my sub!

Goes under the seat, all in one unit.  Not OTT with the bass either.

Stop plugging this thing! We spent about an hour discussing it the other day!

Ah I see so your amp is attached to your sub and can be unplugged from this adaptor?
Cheers for the advice

Lol - to be fair they are a good unit but are better placed under the passenger seat as will give a better bass sound instead of rumbling your ass!!

Yer I have a twin 12" fli trap in the boot! need the extra space sometimes!

Lol I can imagine. Looking at a 10' sub with amp just to run that at the moment, going to leave the speakers running straight from the HU, any suggestions?

I don't like the idea of my boot being taken up by sub.  And it's way too much effort removing it when needed, the re-setting up the head unit etc etc.
